Asset Groups

Overview

Introduction

Seeq is an advanced process analytics platform used by industrial organizations to optimize their operations. One of its key features is the Asset Groups, a tool for organizing and grouping assets within a facility for better management and analysis. The goal of the Asset Groups feature was to provide process engineers with a more streamlined and efficient way to manage their assets, reducing manual effort and increasing productivity.

Problem

Prior to the introduction of the Asset Groups feature, many Seeq users did not have organized tree structures for their assets. In order to organize their assets, Seeq users were required to know advanced coding in Python. This made it difficult for users to quickly access and analyze the data they needed, reducing the effectiveness of the platform. Additionally, users expressed a desire for a more streamlined and organized way to manage their assets.

Research and Early Design

Initial Research:

We conducted user research to better understand the needs and challenges of our users.

This included interviews with customers, internal discussions, and a review of support tickets.

Key Findings:

  • Users needed a more efficient and streamlined way to manage their assets.
  • Users desired a way to group assets based on specific criteria, such as location or function.
  • Users wanted a tool that was easy to use and intuitive.

Low-fi Prototype

I created a low-fidelity prototype to test ideas with customers, and conduct A/B testing in order to determine the best approach.

Research results

Based on research findings, Seeq developed the Asset Groups feature, which allows users to create and manage groups of assets within a facility. Users can organize their assets based on specific criteria, such as location or function, making it easier to access and analyze the data they need. The Asset Groups feature is also intuitive and easy to use, with a clear and straightforward user interface.

Conclusion

Results

Since its launch, the Asset Groups feature has been well-received by Seeq users, who have praised its efficiency and ease of use. By reducing manual effort and increasing productivity, the Asset Groups feature has enabled users to manage their assets more and make better-informed decisions.

Conclusion

The Asset Groups feature has proven to be a valuable addition to the Seeq platform, providing users with a more efficient and effective way to manage their assets. Through user research and design, Seeq was able to identify a need and create a solution that met the needs of its users and improved the overall effectiveness of the platform.
