It was uncertain times in April 2020. The pandemic had just become widespread in the US and we had no idea how long we’d be on lockdown. Maybe a month or two…but the average person could not foresee more than a year of closures and isolation.
Meanwhile, more than a dozen students had applied for the UX/UI Bootcamp course at George Washington University. They’d originally planned to attend the course in person but had to quickly shift to the idea of taking this “hand-on” course virtually. What would this be like? How could we sit in 3-hour+ sessions for 3 days a week via Zoom?
Not only was this an adjustment for them, but it was an adjustment for their instructor…Me. This was my first time teaching and I was expecting to be in person as well. While I work 100 percent remotely on my day job, I certainly wasn’t planning on working remotely to teach students in the evening.
